Join us for the DTS Alumni Panel taking place Wednesday, March 6th from 3:30 – 5:00pm in JHB (170 St. George St.) room 318! Learn what DTS graduates are doing now, how the DTS program helped them achieve their goals and inspired their post graduate studies and careers.
Panelists:
Alizée Zapparoli-Manzoni-Bodson
Alizee holds an Honours B.A and M.A from the University of Toronto in Diaspora and Transnational Studies and Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from George Brown College. Her academic pursuits including fieldwork, coursework and internships have brought her to Turkey, China, Israel and Jordan. Alizee has worked both for and with NGOs and INGOs, as well as with government agencies in Turkey as a consultant, in the Canadian settlement sector as a senior program manager working with refugee newcomers and most recently in global development as Manager of Strategic Communications at WUSC. In her current role she oversees strategic and corporate communications as well as media relations and supports government relations to advance WUSC’s strategic positioning goals. She is bilingual in French and English, proficient in Turkish and Spanish and currently working on improving her Arabic and Urdu.
Christina de la Cruz
Christina de la Cruz (she/her), is a dancer and artistic producer working in both the commercial entertainment industry, the street dance community, and most recently Canadian dance theatre. Her interests revolve around Black diasporic cultural production, archiving street dance, caring for/curating dancing bodies, and Black identity in Canadian art. After graduating from the University of Toronto, she spent 6 years working internationally as a dancer. Since moving back, she completed her Masters in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory at McMaster University. She is currently the interim Artistic Producer at Dancemakers Centre for Creation, and has served on the board for Ballroom dance non-profit Van Vogue Jam.
Marium Vahed
Marium is an entrepreneurial leader with a background in building social impact-driven organizations. Through her advocacy and non-profit work, she has driven the conversation forward on diverse issues including the environment, equity, diversity and inclusion, mental health, and civic engagement. Her passion is storytelling and she is currently directing a short film, to be released Spring 2024. Marium has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Diaspora and Transnational Studies from the University of Toronto & an MSc in Digital Management from Ivey Business School.
